The Kay Family Association UK
was formed in 1998 and currently has over 100
members. Founder President is Lord Shuttleworth
JP, who has Kay connections. The aim of the
Association is to promote interest and encourage
research in all aspects of Kay family history.
Membership is open to all 'Kays', irrespective
of surname spelling e.g. Kaye, Key, McKay etc.
In 2002 and 2003 the association successfully
completed two DNA projects, aimed at
looking for genealogical links between Kays in
Lancashire and Kayes in Yorkshire. Included were
members living around the world from Australia,
New Zealand, Belgium and the USA - see the very
interesting results on their web site. The
Entwistle connection comes through perhaps
the most famous Kay of all:
John Kay, inventor of the Flying Shuttle -
his mother was an Entwistle.
